Senior High Youth Group

Written by

Grades 9-12

The goal of our Senior High youth program is to help our youth grow in faith by teaching them how to apply Faith in Action as disciples of Christ, while they become more independent and experience new challenges in life. During High School the Christian learning portion of the program occurs Sunday mornings during the Sunday School Education hour.

The group also meets once a month for fun and fellowship. It is our goal to help create a community where teens are valued and free from the fear of peer pressure and rejection. We also provide opportunities to recognize and respond to the gifts God has blessed them with through service opportunities in many different ministry areas of our congregation ,the larger Church and world communities.

Junior High students are invited to participate in Confirmation preparation. Students are welcome to participate in the Sunday morning lessons without committing to the entire Confirmation program. For more information, visit the Confirmation page.

Sunday School offers learning for all ages, as we explore God’s Word. Our lessons will follow along with the Narrative Lectionary being used in Sunday morning worship. We will spend the fall learning stories of the Old Testament, then focus on the prophecies and stories of Christmas. In the winter months, we will hear the stories of the Gospels and finish out the spring reading about the new Christian church and learning how Peter, Paul and the other disciples and believers incorporated Jesus’ teachings in their lives. Each student may bring home a sheet that you can be used to reinforce the story. What a great way to start family devotion time! Classes are divided by age levels and include 3 years old to 5th grade students. Three year-olds must be 3 by August 1, 2017, to register.

No Programs During Lent

Wednesday evenings, 6:00-7:30 pm beginning September 16

Think for a moment about the people who have influenced your spiritual walk. Who in your childhood helped to develop your faith? Was it a Sunday School teacher, a Vacation Bible School volunteer, a friend’s parent or grandparent? All of us can recall someone who helped us grow in our relationship with God and whose faith we can admire. These individuals are part of your own faith web.

Our Wednesday nights together will be an opportunity to continue building our faith web as we connect with God and one another. Everyone - all ages, big, small, short, tall, gray-haired, newborn, boy or girl - all are invited to be part of Web It Up Wednesdays. This will be a place to form new relationships and strengthen old ones. We will start with dinner at 6:00 p.m. (free will offerings accepted), then a short campfire-like worship moment with Pastor Lowell, followed by activities that may include outdoor family fun, homework assistance or tutoring, games, Christian study or discussion groups, and ministry or service opportunities. We will have opportunities to share interests and learn new skills. We will have time to learn together, older generations learning from younger generations and the younger learning from the older. We will serve the Lord together, each growing in their faith, each learning from another.

Becoming a disciple of Christ is a life-long adventure. Come and share the adventure with your church family and fellow webbuilders! Childcare will be available.

Grades 4-5

This Wednesday evening ministry focuses on Bible Basics, First Communion, and relationship building. Material will be provided at an age appropriate level with ample time for questions and exploration. Small group learning with an adult mentor is structured to help the youth form connections between the Bible stories that they heard in the younger grades and their worship experiences. We start at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary for the following sessions:

Session 1 – Sept. 14 to Nov. 16
Session 2 – Jan. 4 thru May 16

Ages 18 months - 5 years

Enjoy fellowship with other parents who have young children.  Our time consists of crafts, game, Bible lessons and dinner; all are based on a theme for the evening.  All siblings are welcome!  Watch the announcements and the Lifeline for details!

Grades 1-3

This Wednesday evening ministry is designed for children in 1st thru 3rd grades to SPARK new friendships as they grow in their relationship with Christ. During weekly meetings, they will develop friendships in small groups led by adult mentors. Through songs, crafts, Bible lessons, and games, children will build a foundation of faith and friendship. Children may begin attending at any point in the year; come as often as you are able.
